Black Park fishing rules

Seasonal restrictions

The annual coarse fish closed season applies from 15 March to 15 June inclusive.

Licensing and permits

  1. You must have a valid day ticket or an annual pass to fish.
  2. A valid Environment Agency Rod Licence is required - maximum number of rods allowed is 3.

Fishing hours

  1. Fishing is only permitted during car park opening hours (from 8am to seasonal closing times).
  2. Night fishing is not allowed.

Compliance and enforcement

  1. Breaches of Country Parks or Environment Agency rules will result in immediate removal and reporting to the Environment Agency.
  2. Local Thames Region Environment Agency byelaws apply.

Fish welfare

  1. No fish may be removed from or released into the lake.
  2. All fish must be returned to the water immediately.
  3. Keep nets and sacks are not permitted.

Fishing zones

  1. No fishing is allowed in fenced-off nature reserve areas.
  2. Refer to the site map below for details on permitted fishing zones.

Equipment and conduct

  1. Only barbless hooks are allowed.
  2. Remove all line and rubbish after fishing.
  3. Use sensible quantities of bait; pre-baiting is not permitted.
  4. Bait boats are not allowed.

Safety and supervision

  1. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  2. Anglers must move if requested by Buckinghamshire Country Parks staff or film production crews.
  3. Anglers and their equipment must be located on the lake side of the path surrounding the lake.
  4. Broken lines or lost rigs must be retrieved immediately. If unsafe, report to the Duty Ranger at 07734 734337.

Pike fishing rules

  1. Pike fishing season is between 1 October to 14 March.
  2. You must be in possession of long forceps and be competent at handling and unhooking pike.
  3. A large 36 inch plus net and a large well-padded unhooking mat is required.
  4. Strong line must be used (12lb plus).
  5. Two treble hooks per trace with semi-barbed hooks permitted.
  6. Live baiting is not allowed.
